Phase One
The Northern Rail Extension will be constructed in four phases, pending funding availability.
Phase One of the Northern Rail Extension establishes a crossing and an associated levee system near Salcha, AK. Land clearing began in August 2011, and levee construction began on September 6, 2011.
Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. of Anchorage is providing construction management and general contracting services for Phase One. A Phase One project office will be open on site in Spring 2012.
